The A - Z of ME!

This is me.  Elise/Faff.  I'm very mature for my age, as you can tell...

A - Age
...which is 26 btw.  I have the same birthday as Harry Potter, yeah me!

B - Bed Size
Well its meant to be a double - but its an Ikea double, which of course does its own thing and is somehow longer than any other bed.

C - Chore you hate
Cleaning the bathroom!  Ugh.  And washing dishes.  And driving places.

D - Dogs
Aw yes, so cute!  Never actually had the urge to own one but I love walking my friends dogs when she's home, they're total nutty collie dogs.

E - Essential start to your day

A looooong wake up alarm - like snooze every 10 mins for at least an hour.   I like being out of bed early but just dont like the actual becoming vertical part...

F - Favourite colour

Blue for sure, a real sapphire rich blue, so pretty.  Also partial to red and purple though - red sweets are always the best!

G - Gold or silver
Silver every time, or even better, white gold! (ha, I can dream...)  Actually the guy I spoke to in the sorting office earlier had a real chunky gold wedding ring on and all I could think was how ugly it was - esp since he was kinda nice... ;)

H - Height

Fairly sure I've moaned plenty about this on here, I'm a rather tall 5ft 10 with 36in legs - I've learned to live with it though!  I'm just the tall one in any group... although I must point out my pal above is like 5ft6 and I'm wearing giant ass heels ;)

I - Instruments you play

Alas none, although I have a secret longing to be a total guitar hero rock star!

J - Job title

Projectionist/Technician, depending who asks!  I heart my job, even with all the recent changes and digital switchover, its a great, exciting place to be.  Despite yesterdays first job being to watch Whats My Number... (not as bad as Friends with Benefits in fairness!)

K - Kids

Oh no!  If it happens it won't be for a very long time - although I kinda feel like I'd have to be really talked into it, don't see myself as very maternal

L - Live
In a rather old flat at the mo - I seem to have turned into a bit of a nomad in past few years, in the town I currently live in I've had 5 homes in the past 3 years!  This one is ideal for gym, work, library, having time out on my own - but ridiculously overpriced so shall be moving again by the new year, sigh...

M - Mother's name

Elizabeth/Liz.  She's totally awesome, my fave person in the world.  My gran was also Elizabeth/Betty and my name is a form of Elizabeth - so I maybe better have a kid now to continue the naming tradition!

N - Nickname
My best friend calls me Faff, at school I was Elvis (still not sure why actually!), but most people just call me plain old Elise - except all the people who somehow cant pronounce my name from looking at it, so my whole life I've had a lot of Ellis, Elsie, Lisa, Alice, Alyssia (seriously...).  To think my mum nearly called me Alicia, would have saved a lot of hassle!

O - Overnight hospital stays
None that I'm aware of, but I have been to A&E plenty times (total clumsy idiot, although I'm getting less prone to the serious stuff now!)

P - Pet peeves
THOSE Ugg boots, seems every second person in Scotland is walking about with these overgrown socks on their feet, ugh.  Driving, nothing winds me up more than other drivers, seriously I'm always the best driver on the road ;)  Old people who drive at 40mph on a 60 road, people who don't indicate, the ones who speed up when you're overtaking them... (sense a theme here?)

Q - Quote from a film
'Dont lets ask for the moon, we have the stars' (I actually read this somewhere then said it to Sean and he laughed his ass off for like 5 mins.  Hmph)
'Brick, where'd you get a grenade?' 'I dont know.' (LOVE Anchorman!)
'There's no I in Team America.' 'Yes there is...' (AND Team America!  These are much funnier in context I swear)

R - Right or left handed?

Rightie.  Although I do find myself randomly using my left sometimes.

S - Siblings
Michael/Mikey (above) He's insane but rather fabby and usually has beer.

T - Time you wake up
As early as I can handle, but if its a good dream the snooze gets hit even more!  Generally about 8am.
U - Underwear
I actually adore underwear, I'm obsessed with it!  It has to match, and most of mine is from M&S, just cause they stock my cup size, have great sports bras and the above range especially is a fantastic fit on me.

V - Vegetable you hate
Well I LIKE carrots, cucumber and brocolli...  Thats about it...  Seriously I'm pretty sure a nutritionist would question why I'm still alive, 80% of my diet is junk...

W - What makes you run late
I get distracted very easily.  Hence Faff!  I'll start doing one thing like getting dressed or having a wash, then suddenly find myself staring out the window or folding washing.  In actual fact I'm one of those people who's usually right on time for everything, very rarely am I late or early!

X - X-Rays you've had
I actually couldnt count this...  More serious ones in recent years were when I broke my toe and was plastered to the knee for weeks (tripped over a crack on the pavement and doctors said because of my height my weight fell funny on it...) and had arm in a sling for a while after falling down stairs and bashing my elbow (totally my own fault - I may have been walking down stairs wearing slippers, carrying a hoover and talking on the phone... My ex came back from the shop to find an Elise heap on the floor, faff)

Y - Yummy food that you make
Pasta!  I totally adore the stuff so I have about 3 different ways of making meals from it.  And I know how to cook it to perfection, not an easy thing to do!  (humour me, its the only thing I can make!)

Z - Zoo animal

Not sure how to interpret this one - I dont much like zoo's so only been once in recent years...  I do love penguins and flamingoes, they live in zoos right...?

I love reading all these on other people's blogs, keep it going!

Skiving and skirt shopping...

I'm having the worst time being motivated these days.  Like anything more strenuous than sitting on the sofa and reading books is a bit out of my league at the mo - I seem to be headachy and sleepy all the time, decided to blame my contact lenses but they've been switched and the problem remains...  So in the meantime, you guys get to enjoy some rare outfit pics and a story about skirts, which I'm afraid is your lot right now since I really wanna go to bed...sorry! ;)
Vintage blouse - inherited from gran
Pullover - charity shop
Jeans - Topshop Tall
Boots - New Look

I'm firmly into my Fall comfort clothes, def my fave time of year.
Another solution for growing out hair - side bunches.  Neglecting the fact that I'm 26 and prob shouldn't be wearing bunches...  But they're so easy!
Today was rather good - I got my fave pic n mix....

...and Mother bought me my dream skirt on a mini shopping trip - Principles, purple and swirly, plus due to a discount voucher and gift card, it came out at £5.30, woohoo!
I also found a dream skirt yesterday in H&M, lacy and pretty, and somehow £5 more instore than on the website...huh.  Swithering over whether to keep this one, its lovely but a bit impractical and matches almost none of my shoes.... faff...  Shall ponder it while I fall asleep in front of Mothers tv - any help?

Movie time!

I thought I'd do a wee round up of some of the movies I watched this week - got a free trial started with Love Film so there's some rentals and some cinema visits in the mix...
First up, The Hours.  Most famous for being the film where Nicole Kidman sports a prosthetic nose - which is pretty effective actually, makes her almost unrecognisable!  The plot follows 3 women in different decades all suffering from depression - warning, this is a clue to how much of a downer the movie is, but in actual fact I really enjoyed it.  It travels through a day in each of their lives, one in which they may or may not survive...  Besides starring Nicole Kidman as writer Virginia Wolfe, it also features Julianne Moore playing a typical (and suicidal) 50s housewife and Meryl Streep as a present day publisher, with a ton of big names in the supporting cast - worth it for the talent alone in my opinion!

The second rental was Oranges and Sunshine, a recent release that I missed at the cinema, so was looking forward to getting this.  It was also totally worth it - based on a true story, the plot centres around a social worker in the 1980s who uncovers a scandal hidden by the governement. From the 50s right up to 1970, British children in care homes were shipped to Australia, having been told their parents were dead and promised a better life, only to find they were being forced into almost slavery.  This one woman helped fight for them and reunited some of them with their families, and in fact only very recently got an apology (and acknowledgement ) from the British Goverment.  Really interesting and shocking viewing.

Saw this last night.  Don't see it.  Very boring and had a ridiculous 'non-ending', which I hate.  In fact spent the whole (mercifully short) running time trying to figure out who this guy was.  Convinced myself he was in Home & Away, turns out he was from Monarch of the Glen... And now he's in Hollywood doing American accents in bad movies apparently.

Now, The Guard on the other hand, it was goooood.  An Irish comedy about a crooked cop living in a rural village, this is definitely one of the years better movies.  Brendan Gleeson plays the cop, Don Cheadle a CIA agent investigating local drug smugglers.  They get teamed up together to solve the case and hilarity ensues, for want of a better phrase!  Awesome, go see it, as long as you're not easily offended!  Also Brendan Gleeson is like a more sweary version of Sean's dad, so that amused me too ;)

This morning I'm watching Jane Eyre, my least fave of the classics, but when given a choice between that and a woman assassin wielding a machine gun (Columbiana) I think I chose wisely!

Who's seen what?  Anyone agree with my reviews?  Anyone seen anything better lately that I cant miss?

Being productive...

Yesterday was about getting things done!  And it went rather well, if I do say so myself!  Of course in the middle of being productive, I had to pop into my fave charity shop - when you're walking by it's rude not to go in and say hi!
Got a couple of recent magazines for 2p each and a book for my boss - I'm working at our big sister site this week so thought I'd play the suck up, hehe.

Jumper - charity shop
Vintage skirt - charity shop
Shoes - M&S Outlet

When I got up it was pouring down and generally looked miserable, so I dressed accordingly.  An hour or so later I went out to visit my boss and get some shopping, it was gloriously sunny, d'oh...  The wind made up for  it though so didn't feel too daft walking around town!

In case anyone's wondered what to do with growing out hair, here's what - stick some kirby grips in each side and call it planned...  Sometimes my hair 'works', sometimes it doesn't, yesterday was pretty good ;P

Picked up this lambswool jumper new with tags for £2 last week, bargain!

The afternoon was spent in the library, reading and picking up random books for hours, then the night was spent reading the random books!  Felt very peaceful going to bed... ;)

In case anyone's interested, I did manage to do the race in Sunday!  Completed it in 55mins 50secs - I was aiming for under 50mins but the hill start combined with just feeling 'off' that day did not work in my favour, was puffing on my inhaler way more than usual.  So glad I completed it though, and by the time I got back to the start to see my friend run the half marathon I was feeling rather better!  He also did awesome, completing the course in around 2hrs 25mins I think - rather him than me, I spent the night mostly unable to move at work.  Until our fire alarm went off, then I sprinted down 3 sets of stairs only to find it was a false alarm (one of the floor staff sprayed air freshener too close to the sensor, daftie!) and had to haul myself back up!  The things we put ourselves thru...

I'm now thinking of doing a 6K 'Fun Run' (ha!) in a few weeks, anyone fancy joining me?

Day off and leg hurt...

It's finally happened - I ran myself to the point of limping yesterday, and with the 10K now only 3 days away I'm freaking out a bit!  Took a wee walk down town earlier and found a summer suit on the £1 charity shop rail though, so today was looking up!
Vintage M&S dress - charity shop
F&F shoes - eBay

I may never take this cardigan off - and it's only September!  (Dis)advantage of living in a Scottish climate means I may never have to...

If a dress is too big for you, just tie the belt!  Totally makes that 10p it cost even more worth it ;)

Think this will have to be saved for next year - may get round to ironing it by then....

If anyone's interested in donating some money to 2 good causes, here's your chance!  I, Faff, am running the Great Scottish Run 10k in aid of Bowel Cancer in memory of my Granny, and the awesome Foof is running the half marathon (nutter) in aid of Thyroid UK for his dad - please support us if you can, and if not just cross your fingers our legs hold out!

Thanks in advance!

M&S Autograph Collection

Well it's not often I even look at new store collections, never mind post about them, but M&S is my all time favourite store (in case you hadn't guessed by now, I'm just pointing that out!), and Autograph is, in my opinion, by far their best collection.  And it just got even better - they've only gone and got the lovely Ryan Reynolds modelling for them!  Oh and Rosie Huntington-Whitely to complete the designer couple, looking every inch as elegant as I can only dream of, darn it.  Movie stars + M&S = Elise drooling...

Seriously considering buying these boots right now...

Anyone else loving this?

:)
